Last Auto News – Recall Alert: Saturn Vue
Last Auto News –
General Motors has issued a recall notice for about 45,000 2008 Saturn Vue SUVS to correct a problem with the door handle that could contribute to an injury. The problem affects only those vehicles with door handles painted to match the body of the car. Chrome-handled Vues are unaffected.
In a defect notice filed with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, GM explains, “The outside door handles may stick or bind. If this were to occur, the door may not latch when closed.” Since the door would appear closed, “driving with an unlatched door could result in an unbelted occupant falling out of the vehicle.”
Saturn dealers will replace the body-color door handles with chrome handles, which do not experience the same problem. Dealers should begin contacting owners through the mail on August 18, but those who wish to make their own repair arrangements may contact Saturn at 1-800-972-8876, or at www.gmownercenter.com.

Last Auto News – Recall Alert: Saturn Vue
Last Auto News –
General Motors has recalled the 2009 Saturn Vue compact SUV due to a defect that could result in a loss of steering control.
In a defect notice filed with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, GM explains, “Some of these vehicles may have been built with an incorrect right and/or left front steering knuckle.” It is possible for the tie rod to separate from the steering knuckle. If that were to happen, during hard braking or steering, “the affected wheel could turn out and skid.” In a worst-case scenario, “steering control of the vehicle would be lost.”
This is the second recall this year involving the Vue’s steering system. In September, 2009 Vues were recalled due to a possible power steering fluid leak.
Saturn dealers will inspect affected vehicles, and if necessary, replace the steering knuckles and tie rods at no cost to owners. Owners should receive a recall notice in the mail next week, but those who wish to make their own arrangements may call Saturn at (800) 972-8876.
