Last Auto news – Oh brother! Three-door Polo revealed Sporty three-door Volkswagen Polo unveiled

Here are the first official pictures of Volkswagen’s hotly anticipated three-door Polo.

Set to debut at next month’s Frankfurt Motor Show, the car will be produced in Spain and shares the five-door’s platform.

It’s due on sale in January, and is tipped to offer the same quality, space, refinement and safety as its big brother. Buyers will be able to choose from S, SE, Moda and SEL trims, with prices ranging from around £9,200 to £14,000.

Every Polo will be fitted with four airbags, ABS, ESP stability control and hydraulic brake assist as standard. In addition, the hatch gets a CD stereo, speed-sensitive power-steering and electric windows. The top-spec SEL has 16-inch alloys, foglights, leather trim on the steering wheel, gearshift and handbrake, a multifunction computer and tyre pressure monitor.

At launch, there will be a choice of 59bhp or 69bhp naturally-aspirated 1.2-litre petrol engines and an 84bhp 1.4.

Diesel options comprise 74bhp or 88bhp 1.6-litre common-rail TDIs. All comply with the latest Euro V emissions legislation. A new 1.2-litre TS turbo will follow later in 2010.
