Last Auto News – First Images of 2012 Chevy Aveo Show Dramatically Better Car

Last Auto News –

The current Chevrolet Aveo is easily one of the least appealing cars on the market. With most automakers focusing their energies on improving their smallest cars in recent years, General Motors’ least-expensive model has been left in the dust by cars like the Honda Fit and even the ultra-cheap Nissan Versa. The first images of its replacement, however, appear to show a dramatically improved Aveo that will reach dealers as a 2012 model..

Kicking Tires reports, “The design of the sedan…is sharp, with a handsome front end that offers something on par with Ford’s new Fiesta. The interior,” meanwhile, “looks to follow the trend of the Chevy Equinox in terms of improved materials and design.”

Motor Trend adds, “The production car seems to bear a close resemblance to the Aveo RS concept shown at the Detroit auto show in January, utilizing the same wide grille, quad headlamps, and aggressive front fascia.”

The cabin, in particular, has the automotive press buzzing. Jalopnik says, “The interior looks better than the current knock-off Rubbermaid-esque offering, with a two-tone dash, the new integrated control panel and, most intriguingly, a large tach with a digital information center.” Summing up press opinion of the current Aveo, they add, “It’s gotta be better because it could hardly be worse.”

Autoblog notes, “Pricing remains a question mark, but we’d suspect all the details to be revealed before the end of the year, with sales starting sometime in 2011.”
